PPSTA denounces merciless killing of school principal
Philippine Public School Teachers Association (PPSTA), the largest organization of public school teachers and employees of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the country, highly denounces the ruthless killing of Gabriel Canizares, Principal of Kanague Elementary School, in Patikul, Jolo, Sulu.
The heinous act is a clear indication of the perpetrators' insolence and massive attack not only to human life but to the country's educational system as well.
The PPSTA family grieves the death of Canizares and urges the government to conduct a large-scale manhunt in order to pin down his ruthless killers.
It can be recalled that two (2) other kidnapping incidents involving public school teachers have been reported for this year alone, a glaring fact that public school educators, the molders of the youth and the pillars of society, are now easy targets of bandits in Mindanao.
The Association is reaching out to the bereaved family of Canizares as we coordinate with our local chapter in Jolo, Sulu simultaneous with our candid request to the government to provide optimum protection and security to the life and limb of Filipino educators.
PPSTA wants a clear-cut measure from the government to prevent the occurrence of this kind of incident and we want it now.
