Established in 1958, MAS is the biggest social program privately operated for public school teachers. It provides financial assistance to the members and its surviving beneficiaries in the active members role. MAS started as an "abuluyan system", whereby every member donates 10 centavo to the family of every member who died. To simplify matters, it was later agreed that regardless of the number of members die, each members contributes a fix amount monthly and the members of the families of those who died given the fixed amount. This eventually transformed the MAS into a type of insurance known as Mutual Aid System. Now it is upgraded to MAS 65 a life insurance program of PPSTA. The program offers 200,000 pesos life insurance coverage and double indemnity if death of a member is due to accident. A plan is payable up to age 65 years only. An immediate endowment benefit of 50,000 pesos upon reaching age 65 and is still insured of 150,000 pesos. Advance payment of 50% or 100,000 pesos of coverage if a member suffers terminal illness less than 65 years of age and 75,000 pesos if an ill member is above 65 years old. Members must be below 54 years old.

If a member becomes terminally ill (meaning survival is not expected to go beyond six months as certified by a legally qualified physician), 50% or P 100,000 of the death benefit is advanced for members below 65 years old and P 75,000 for members beyond 65 years old.
